Uh….

O-oh my…

You can’t live with your boyfriend as a freshman. Or a sophomore. Georgetown freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus. Your boyfriend is not a housing exemption. He also cannot live with you realistically. Everytime he wants to come in the dorm you have to sign him in.
I guess you could still pay for GU housing and live somewhere else… but that’s a lot of wasted money.
Now. By studies nearby I’m assuming he’s at George Washington, American, or Catholic and not someplace even further away. And Georgetown is your “only good option narrowed down” because it’s the only school close to him that is smart enough for you. So with those assumptions (plus the assumption that you will get in) I think you have three options you can take here.

Getting into GU

But in my personal opinion, the best way after grades to get in here is

But which I mean, do what makes you different, what you have a passion for. It doesn’t have to be something no one else does like play the tuba with your feet, just what you’re already good at. For me it was art and travel, which are fairly common interests. The point is trying to make yourself look like a typical, average Georgetown student can backfire because most elite colleges are looking to bring as many kinds of kids as they can get, not 2000 of the same.Community service (especially I think for Walsh. ‘Service’ is in the name of the school after-all) and a passionate essay help, but I think most admissions officers can detect bullshit, so that’s why having something you’re good at and care about helps.
So whatever it is that you’re good at, whether it be art or sports or playing the tuba with your feet, strive to push yourself in that discipline and achieve.
Study hard too. It’s better for them to not even have to look and try to make judgement calls on your character/passion.
Good Luck with your app!
In which there is much helpfulness

Well, obligatory disclaimer first…..

So I can’t tell you for sure….but in this case I can look at the students here and tell you it probably is really important to have community service. Not so sure about the role of ECs, but it seems the Jesuits aren’t kidding about that “Men and Women for others” bit. A very large chunk of the student population is involved with community service or would be if they had enough time to be involved (I’d put myself in that second group). There’s even a mass community service event for freshmen during orientation that’s well attended. To get the scale of the involvement, here’s all the groups my roommate and I could come up with:

Super thanks to my roommate she’s a lot more involved! But even this might not be a complete list!
So liefonambition, I’d say if you have it, flaunt it, if you’ve got time, do some. If you’re a senior and don’t have any, don’t worry. I got in without any (there weren’t many opportunities in scenic suburban nowhere), and a moderate amount of ECs.
Good luck liefonambition!
Finally I can work on these again!
Hello everyone! Sorry I couldn’t post anything new this week! Georgetown is a lot of work, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! I have the rest of today to work on questions though, so stay tuned for more~!

Regular Decision, two days before the deadline like a boss.As for the waiting-

The waiting for me was brutal because GU was my last school I heard from. I heard from most everybody by mid march. The period in between hearing from RISD and GU was the hardest because about 2 days after the up vote from RISD I decided that I wanted to go to a liberal arts school anyway. And since GU was by far the best liberal arts college I’d applied to I was sweating bullets for a bit there. My roommate from NJ says she got her letter March 23rd though, so keep up hope for hearing earlier? Although, that might make it more painful…
As for my number one choice-

But they gave me the do-not-pass-go-or-into-regular-decision rejection from EA sooo. Georgetown was my #1 liberal arts school for the regular decision pool, though it had to contend with my art school choices for a while. After I got into all of those and saw that it was going to put me in uncomfortable amounts of debt… Georgetown became unconditionally #1. And now that I’m here at GU I can’t imagine being at any other school *w* M -look
That sort of thing is really common here. I feel like half the people I talk to had Georgetown some form of their second choice.
Interviews + First GIF!

Well first off-

But my interview is what first made me want to go to GU! I hope you had fun during it!
Like when I answered about summer programs, I’d imagine it depends on the rest of your application. (No getting around it, your scores/grades are the base of an app) Because everyone during EA gets one (I’m assuming if you’ve already had an interview you’re EA), it’s weighted more than during the regular pool most likely. Georgetown doesn’t reject in EA so don’t worry about it screwing your chances yet.
That said, unlike the summer programs, you can screw it up, so I can imagine it could hurt or help you. But that’s why it’s also good if they don’t give it too much clout. (which I imagine they can’t if not everyone in the RD pool has them). I don’t imagine there’d be much difference between a good interview and an amazing interview. As long as it’s a positive outcome, it’ll help. you said you felt pretty good about it so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I’d say whether an interview helps or not works like this:

Good luck musicandwonderfulroses!
‘Most Right’ College

There really wasn’t a moment where I was like OMG THIS IS PERFECT. Just a bunch of degrees of needing badly to come here. It was the place I could picture myself at best. The period in between deciding to come to GU and getting the aid to actually be /able/ to go to GU was particularly hard.
It was getting to wordy up there so I didn’t put it, but falling in love with the campus includes loving the location of the Georgetown neighborhood and central feel of DC that works well with my international interests. Also the pic is of Gaston Hall - it’s an amazing room inside Healy Hall. I cried in there on Accepted Student’s Day listening to Father Kevin O’Brien because I couldn’t believe I was going to get to go to a place like this.
After getting here I’d say the only additional thing I’d add to GU being right for me thing is the ease of getting involved in Student Groups and how active they are.
Super apologies if my handwriting can’t be read! I’ll try to write less on the pic in the future
Oh hey a post with an answer!

I mean, at the very least it certainly isn’t going to hurt you right?
I didn’t go on any of them myself Dancin’, but I ran around and found kids in my dorm that did. They all seemed to feel it helped their applications quite a bit or immensely.
It’s also helpful because Georgetown doesn’t use the common app- They’re looking for a kid who’s really interested in Georgetown and not just spamming out applications. One kid told me the ability to cite in the application essays the programs he’d been to here in the summer was something he thought really showed that interest.
Good luck Dancininseptember!
Alright, getting the ball (sort of) rolling!

And there’s another guy following me in the time it took to make the second and third panels! Glad to see people are into this!!
I’ve done some info gathering for my first question as well so I’m getting started on that!
Awesome! Let’s get this show on the road! I’m open for questions everybody!
(Now lets just hope I actually get some!)
